Cheese, onion and herb loaves

Herb loaf with cheese-002 insert


  • 1 packet (250g) self-raising flour
  • 1 packet (usually 55 g) white onion soup
  • 1 tsp bicarb
  • 1 cup finely grated cheese
  • 500ml buttermilk (or plain yoghurt)
  • 1 Tbsp mixed herbs


  1. Mix well and pour into individual greased loaf tins.
  2. Bake @ 180C for 50 minutes to one hour.


Use fresh finely chopped thyme and/or rosemary or freeze-dried herbs work if possible.
