Granny’s Christmas mince pies

  • 4 cups flour; 500gr butter chilled;
  • 2 tsp white vinegar;
  • 1 tsp salt;
  • 2 Tbsp chilled water (if necc)
  • Tot of brandy (opt)


  1. Grate butter into flour. Add salt, vinegar and water.
  2. Roll out thinly and cut into round shapes for pans keeping enough for stars on top.
  3. Fill with Xmas mince (and tot brandy opt) and brush with egg yolk.
  4. Bake @ 180 for 15 mins. Sprinkle with castor sugar when cool (opt.)
