Cheese scones

  • 1½ cups flour (375 ml)
  • 1½ cups finely grated mature cheddar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp salt;
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • ½ tsp mustard powder
  • About 1 cup milk to make dough to a pouring consistency

(You must be able to scoop the dough into patty pans easily)


  1. Combine all the ingredients and pour mixture into patty pans (half filled.)
  2. Bake @ 180 degrees for 15 minutes.
  3. Serve with butter and extra cheese or jam or marmalade.
